Mobile Mechanic Pricing — Exeter & Devon

At The Mobile Small Car Doctor, I believe in transparent, honest pricing with no hidden surprises. All labour prices are listed below. Parts are charged at cost plus a 10% handling fee. Card payments incur a 3% processing fee. Cash and bank transfer are always welcome.

Quotes and Estimates

If I haven't previously inspected your vehicle, I'll provide an honest estimate based on the information you give me. Once I've inspected or diagnosed your car, I'll give you a fixed quote before any work begins. You'll never be charged for work you haven't approved.

Labour Rate

All labour is charged at £85.00 per hour, billed in 30 minute increments.

Call Outs

No call out fee when a job is pre-booked. £120 for all breakdowns and emergencies.

Consumables

A £5 consumable fee applies to all repair bookings. This covers brake cleaner, penetrating oils, grease and disposable PPE used during your repair.

Parts

All parts are sourced from reputable suppliers and are OES (Original Equipment Specification) or better. All parts supplied carry a 12 month / 12,000 mile warranty against manufacturing or material defects. I'm unable to warranty customer supplied parts.

Additional Charges

In some cases additional charges may apply beyond the standard quoted price. These will always be communicated and approved by you before any additional work proceeds. You have the right to refuse any additional work at any time.
Additional charges can include but are not limited to:

Hazardous waste disposal
Specialist machining or fabrication services
Access to manufacturer software portals where information is not available through standard diagnostic tools
Broken or seized bolts, corroded components or hidden damage discovered during a repair
Additional parts or labour required as a result of faults found during the course of a booking

If a vehicle has been partially worked on by the customer or a third party before booking with me, a higher labour rate of £100.00 per hour applies.
This is not a penalty; it reflects the reality of the situation. Partially completed repairs frequently involve:

Incorrectly refitted or missing components
Rounded, damaged or over-torqued fixings
Broken clips, stripped threads or damaged wiring
Parts fitted incorrectly or incompatibly
Increased diagnostic time to understand what has already been done

All of these add time, complexity and risk to a repair that would otherwise be straightforward. The increased rate fairly reflects this additional work.

Please be honest when booking about any work that has already been attempted on your vehicle. This allows me to quote accurately and avoid unexpected costs on the day. Withholding this information may result in your booking being rescheduled or repriced on arrival.
The increased labour rate also applies to vehicles that have been worked on by an unqualified third party where that work has directly caused or contributed to the fault being repaired.
